Cosmetic Neuromodulators in Duncan, BC Canada

Dynamic wrinkles are caused by contractions of the delicate underlying facial muscles when you smile, laugh or frown. The more emotion you show, the deeper these wrinkles and lines are likely to become. While you may have earned every one of your wrinkle lines, you no longer have to show them. Dr. Pascoe and her medical associates personally consult with every client and perform all neuromodulator treatments. She has 20 years of experience in aesthetic medicine and 30 years of experience as a family physician.

What is A NEUROMODULATOR?

Neuromodulators are purified proteins made by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. In purified form, they are made for the temporary relaxation of muscles. We carry Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Nuceiva.

How do NEUROMODULATORS work?

Neuromodulators work by partially blocking the nerve impulses to the tiny facial muscles that are related to expression lines. This causes the muscles that are related to expression to relax. After the solution takes effect, the overlying skin will be smooth and unwrinkled, while your untreated facial muscles will still function normally.

Am I a candidate for Neuromodulators?

Most patients are candidates for this procedure if they have dynamic wrinkles and lines. Contraindications generally are minimal therefore making this a suitable treatment for most patients. Patients that are pregnant or have neurological problems are not candidates. Dr. Pascoe will review your medical history to ensure that neuromodulators are safe for you.

How is Neuromodulator treatment performed?

This is a simple and safe procedure. A tiny needle is used to inject small amounts of neuromodulator into the area to be treated. Several injections are usually needed in specific muscles of the face. Natural facial expressions are preserved by targeting only wrinkle-producing muscles. Most patients remark that there is minimal discomfort. You can resume most normal activities immediately. Neuromodulators generally take 3-7 days to take full effect.

How Many Neuromodulator Injections Will I Receive?

The number of injections you will receive depends on the area being treated and the strength of the muscles in that area. Just to give you a general idea; however, most crows feet areas usually take 3 injections per side, and most frown lines between your eyebrows need about 5 quick injections. Of course, how many areas you want to be treated at once is up to you.

What does the average Neuromodulator Injection cost?

Your cost includes the price o your product and, more importantly, the skill and expertise of your injector. Botox Cosmetic is a technique-sensitive treatment. The cost of treating the area will be discussed with Dr. Pascoe. With 20 years of injecting experience, you can be sure your treatment is in good hands.

Are there any side effects of Neuromodulator Injections?

Temporary bruising of the injection site is the most common side effect. In some cases, neuromodulators can migrate to the wrong muscle causing drooping of the eyelid or unevenness of the brows. With skilled technique and knowledge of the face and underlying muscles, the chances of this are reduced to about 1%. Because the effects of neuromodulators are completely reversible, any side effects are temporary.

What results can I expect?

Most patients desire a more youthful appearance. Some prefer to look less “angry,” while others are concerned about preventative therapy. Whatever the reason, the outcomes are the same. Wrinkles that are controlled by muscle movement are decreased and smoothed. Wrinkles that are from sun exposure or not muscle-related will not be affected by neuromodulators.

Do Injections Hurt?

Dr. Pascoe uses very fine needles for neuromodulator injections, and she is an experienced injector, so all you feel is a tiny poke when the needle first goes in. Neuromodulators are one of the most pain-free procedures, and there is no downtime afterward.

How long does it last?

Neuromodulator injections are temporary. On average, the effect lasts 3-5 months with individual variations. Early clinical studies have indicated that the duration of treatment benefits is increased over time so that you could require injections less frequently in the future.

Do Men Receive Neuromodulator Injections?

Yes, men benefit from treatments too! We see many men at Viva Medical Aesthetics who want to soften their forehead lines and frown lines to give them a more relaxed and youthful appearance.

how long is the recovery time after treatment?

After your treatment, you can resume your regular day. There is minimal downtime.

What areas can be treated?

Frown lines, smile lines, forehead wrinkles/furrows, and upper lip lines can be treated with neuromodulators.

How long does Neuromodulator treatment take?

If it is your first visit, a careful facial analysis will be done to determine the appropriate treatment. The actual injections take about 10 – 15 minutes.

What is “baby botox”?

Baby Botox is a term that refers to using small amounts of Botox for “PRE-JUVENATION.” The “baby” part of the term means that just a little bit of Botox is used. Pre-juvenation means taking care of your skin earlier rather than later so that wrinkles, lines, and sun damage are reduced. Dr. Pascoe talks about and demonstrates the procedure in the two short videos below.
